Editorial Methodology
This is a proposed methodology, written so it can be reviewed, amended and signed off before launch. Once approved it becomes the standard every review on this site is held to. Nothing on this page describes testing that has already taken place.
1. What we cover
We cover software that digital marketers use to do their jobs, organised into eight categories: SEO, GEO, advertising, social media, analytics, content, video and image tools. A tool is eligible for coverage if it is generally available, has public pricing or a public trial, and solves a problem inside one of those categories.
We choose what to review based on reader demand, category coverage gaps, and how often a tool comes up in practice — not on who approaches us.
2. How reviews are conducted
Every review sets out, on the page itself: what was tested and on what kind of site or account; which plan or tier was used, and whether it was paid for, trialled, or provided by the vendor; how long the tool was used; and the date of the review and of the last re-check.
Where a comparison places several tools side by side, they are given the same task on the same data, and the conditions are stated. Where that is not possible, the review says so rather than implying a like-for-like test.
3. How ratings work
A tool carries a rating only once it has been reviewed. Until then its entry in the tool database is descriptive — what it does, who it is for, what it costs — and it is labelled not yet reviewed. We would rather show an honest gap than a placeholder score.
4. Corrections
If something on this site is wrong, we want to fix it. Corrections are made on the article itself, the last-updated date changes, and material corrections are noted on the page.
5. Sponsorship, and what it does not buy
This publication is sponsored by Digimetrics.ai. Sponsorship appears in one form: a Sponsored Highlight component, always labelled as sponsored and always visually distinct from editorial.
What sponsorship does not do: it does not affect whether a tool is reviewed; it does not affect a rating, a ranking or a position in any list; it does not give the sponsor sight of a review before publication; and it does not prevent us covering or recommending a competing product.
6. Advertising and affiliate links
We do not currently sell third-party advertising, and we do not currently use affiliate links. If either changes it will be disclosed here and on the relevant policy page before it appears on the site.
7. Who writes this
Every article carries a byline, a publication date and, where revised, a last-updated date. Author pages list what that person has written. We do not publish under invented names.
8. AI use
AI tools may be used for research assistance, transcription and editing support. Published articles are written and checked by people, and the judgements, ratings and recommendations are theirs.
Disclosure: digitalmarketingtools.ai is sponsored by Digimetrics.ai. Sponsored Highlights are clearly labelled advertising. Our reviews, comparisons and guides are written to be useful and fair regardless of who sponsors the site. Read the full disclosure.
